Boy's hill climb raises hundreds for young mums
- Published
A three-year-old boy has raised more than £1,100 for a support group for teenage mothers by walking to the top of a large hill.
Karter, from Shrewsbury, walked to the summit of Caer Caradoc in Shropshire and back down again with his grandmother Jodi.
He raised £1,185 for Teens with Tots, a support group recently set up by Jodi.
"It was my grandson’s idea, he is very old for his years and wanted to help me,"she said.
Fourteen family members joined Karter for the three-hour challenge on 27 July.
"We were led by him, he went off adventuring and we followed his lead, he loved making the tracks," his grandmother added.
The group, set up by Jodi, was created, she said, to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for young mothers to get support and meet other parents.
“We’re a big family so we have a lot of support but not everyone feels like that so we want to spread the love, nurture people, show them that we care, everyone deserves a bit of love," the 42-year-old added.
