Police are warning drivers to act "responsibly" after reports of racing and anti-social behaviour.

Suffolk Police said it had been made aware of "ongoing issues" around Gateway 14 and the A1120 in Stowmarket.

Patrols are now being carried out in the area and those identified as racing or driving in a careless manner will be reported for negligent use of motor vehicle and other related offences including careless driving.

A spokesperson said "one of the most emotionally challenging and delicate responsibilities in policing is delivering agony messages to loved ones following serious or fatal road traffic collisions".

"These moments are devastating and unforgettable for all those involved and a stark reminder of the real consequences of dangerous/careless driving," they added.

Section 59 warnings and notices, that give the police the power to seize vehicles if being driven carelessly, will also be issued, "serving as a deterrent", the police said.
