Cameroon's Manu Dibango 2.0 remix

Cameroon's musician Manu Dibango became a household name in many parts of the world when he released, in 1972, his Afrobeat single Soul Makossa.

Forty years later, the song is still a big hit and there is a new version of it, Soul Makossa 2.0, in Mr Dibango's most recent album, Past Present Future.

The saxophonist and vibraphone player, who is now 78, played for many years with Congolese superstars Grand Kalle et l'African Jazz, and has collaborated, among others, with Fania All Stars, Fela Kuti, Herbie Hancock, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Cuban artist Eliades Ochoa.

The BBC Africa's Paul Bakibinga spoke to Mr Dibango, who lives in Paris, about his career.
