Manx World War II veteran's private letters published

A former soldier from the Isle of Man has had hundreds of letters from World War II published.

James Fenton, 90, from Port Erin wrote hundreds of letters to his parents in Lancashire when serving in the Burma War.

Featured in a book, entitled The Forgotten Army, the volume also includes painting and photographs.

Mr Fenton said: "There were 440 letters that my parents kept. It was frightening to read some of them as there were strange memories and some sad ones."
