Sharp displays become round

The display-maker Sharp has unveiled devices which use circular and freeform-shaped displays as opposed to regular rectangular ones.

The Japanese electronics maker envisages them having a number of applications, from consumer tablets to in-car dashboards.

It has also released a prototype of a transparent screen, which is almost entirely see-through until an image is displayed.

The BBC's North America Technology correspondent casts his eye over the innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month.
