Who will back public sector strikes?

Large scale job losses could spell industrial action but public sector workers risk losing sympathy if they walk out. That is according to the body that represents human resource directors across the country.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development said that three quarters of employees believe that the public will quickly lose sympathy for workers who cause disruption to essential services.

Dr John Philpott from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development told the BBC that "the majority of employees accept the logic of cuts".
