Jose Manuel Barroso: 'We are not putting pressure on Ireland'

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has said he has confidence in the four-year fiscal plan of the Irish government, as Ireland insists it will work with the EU authorities to overcome its huge budget deficit.

Mr Barroso added the EU was not putting pressure on the debt-laden country, which has so far resisted accepting a bail-out from international financial institutions.
