Energy firms face gas and electricity price review

The energy regulator Ofgem is to carry out an inquiry into domestic gas and electricity prices to see if customers are getting a fair deal.

New figures show energy companies have made much bigger profits on the average household bill in the last few months - and three of the six big companies are putting prices up this winter.

Downing Street says it welcomes news of the inquiry.
