Stalemate over EU 2011 budget may be resolved

A stalemate threatening to throw the European Union's financial planning into disarray could be resolved at a meeting in Strasbourg on Monday.

The EU Parliament and the 27 states have agreed how much the budget should rise in 2011.

But the two major ruling bodies have been continuing to wrangle over extra political concessions, demanded by members of the European Parliament.
