Cost of childcare rising twice as fast as family incomes.
The Daycare Trust has looked at the price of childcare across the UK and found it is rising more than twice as fast as family incomes.
In England alone, the cost of a nursery place for a child of two or over has increased by nearly 5% since last year. While 25 hours of nursery care a week for a child under the age of two would on average cost more than £5,000 a year.
In Wales it is around £4,700 while in Scotland it is even more expensive with parents facing an average nursery bill of £5,178 year.
Anand Shukla, acting chief executive for the Daycare Trust told the BBC the costs make new mothers think twice about returning to work.
