Chinese farmer swaps crops for new job inventing robots

China is the world's factory, producing cheap goods for export round the globe.

But increasingly the Chinese authorities want the country not only to produce goods, but design them as well.

They are spending billions of dollars developing the country's hi-tech industries, believing that higher-paid jobs will improve standards of living.

Farmer and amateur robot builder Wu Lulu swapped his fields for a factory after winning a TV competition for inventors.

Martin Patience visited Mr Wu's workshop where he and his team of 50 employees design robots to order.
