UK unemployment figures explained

The number of unemployed people in the UK fell by 17,000 to 2.48m in the three months up to the end of February, official figures show.

The jobless rate among men has decreased, but more women are out of work and youth unemployment has stayed above 20%.

David Freeman from the Office for National Statistics, which compiles the figures, explained how the figures break down.
