Christine Lagarde's IMF ambition threatened

French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde's hopes of securing the top job at the International Monetary Fund could be facing a serious blow.

On the final day to enter nominations for the post, Ms Lagarde had expected to hear whether she would be investigated by French authorities over a multi-million dollar pay-out she approved to a businessman to settle a legal case.

But a court has ruled the decision will now be made on 8 July, after the appointment of the new IMF head.
