Trichet: Europe's approach to China 'not humbling'

The outgoing president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Jean-Claude Trichet, has said that it is "absolutely normal" for the European rescue fund to try to find more money.

The head of the eurozone's bailout fund has begun attempts to persuade China to invest in a scheme to help rescue member countries facing debt crises.

When asked by the BBC's Stephanie Flanders if he thought it was embarrassing or humbling that Europe was going to China for money, he responded "not at all".
