Christmas worry for retailers

Retailers are worried about performance in the run-up to Christmas.

Profits at Marks and Spencer fell in the six months to October -- with the company blaming the "challenging economic environment" for its performance.

That was reflected in figures from the industry group, the British Retail Consortium, which said its members had also seen worryingly weak sales.
