EU backs apprenticeships to tackle youth unemployment

The European Union is turning its attention to the growing numbers of young people in Europe who cannot find work as the financial crisis bites.

The EU plans to provide more aid to help member states tackle youth unemployment by helping unqualified school-leavers back into education or vocational training.

The Commission particularly wants to back workplace training and apprenticeships.
