Health Lottery very different to National Lottery - Desmond

The Health Lottery is a "very different thing" to the National Lottery, according to the chairman of the company that runs it.

Richard Desmond of Northern & Shell was responding after the High Court rejected an attempt by the National Lottery to block the Health Lottery from operating in its current form.

Camelot lost the case against the Gambling Commission, which had granted the Health Lottery a licence to operate in the UK.

The Health Lottery was set up last year and raises funds for UK health causes.

Camelot said it was disappointed at the decision and would launch an appeal.
