West Coast rail row: FirstGroup vows to fight on

The chief executive of FirstGroup has spoken of his "bitter disappointment" following the government's decision to restart bidding for the West Coast Main Line franchise.

Tim O'Toole's company had beaten Virgin Trains to win a 13-year contract, but the decision was revoked on Tuesday after "technical flaws" were found in the competition process.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr O'Toole said that FirstGroup would be prepared to rebid for the contract but would also consider taking legal action following the debacle.
