India looks to encourage innovation

Innovation is seen key to businesses and even countries becoming more competitive.

Various nations across the world have been making a push to create an environment that encourages innovation.

In India, the government has set up a National Innovation Council (NIC) to help foster new ideas from across the country.

According to its website, the NIC's aim is to help bring together various stakeholders to create an innovation movement in India.

The BBC's Shilpa Kannan met council member Arun Maira and asked him how it all works.
