'We provide unlicensed drugs'

Today's Friday boss is Peter George chief executive of Clinigen, a company set up to supply unlicensed medicines to UK patients in cases when a prescribing doctor thinks an unlicensed drug maybe the best option.

Clinigen also buy up drugs that have been withdrawn from market or neglected by bigger companies and distribute them.

Speaking to Today presenter Simon Jack, Mr George explained that his company, specialising in antibiotics and anti-viral drugs, has seen sales almost double over the last year and it listed on the AIM market last September.

He explained that the company provides drugs "for patients who have failed to respond to current treatments that are available or where there are no alternative treatments in the markets."

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 15 March 2013.
