Swiss dilemma over bank secrecy

As G8 leaders grapple with the issue of tax evasion, Switzerland is being pushed to pass legislation allowing Swiss banks to pass client information to US tax authorities.

The pressure from Washington comes in the wake of revelations that some Swiss banks helped American account holders to evade taxes.

But many Swiss politicians are reluctant to agree to a bill that would, in effect, put an end to its banking secrecy.
