Facebook results please investors

The world's biggest social networking site, Facebook has reported strong results for the April to June quarter.

The firm said its revenue jumped by more than 50% nearly $2bn during the period - with nearly 40% of that coming from mobile advertising.

That cheered investors who had been worried about the firm's ability to sell advertising space on the mobile version of its website.

In after hours US trading its shares jumped by 19% at one stage.
