'Ministers boasting but not enough work to go around'

Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Liam Byrne has told BBC News there is not enough work to go around after a fall in the headline unemployment rate to 7.7% between May and July.

Employment Minister Mark Hogan had welcomed the figures and said they showed the government reforms were working.

However, Mr Byrne said, "Most families will wonder what planet he's on... If you live in half the country where unemployment went up today, I don't think you'd recognise what Mr Hoban said. And if you're trapped in a part time job and you're looking for full time work - if you're one of those 1.5 million people - I don't think you'd necessary agree with what Mr Hoban was boasting about."
