How big a business is James Bond?

Sixty years since his introduction in Casino Royale, James Bond is back in a brand new novel, Solo, written by William Boyd.

The book is set in 1969 and sees Ian Fleming's secret agent, now aged 45, sent on a mission to stop a civil war in West Africa.

Over 100 million Bond novels have been sold worldwide and Skyfall became the first official Bond film to take over $1 billion at the box office following its release last year.

Ajay Chowdhury, editor of the James Bond International Fan Club magazine told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "Bond tends to break records when he's on top form."
