UK nuclear power plant set to go ahead

The UK's first new nuclear station in a generation has been announced by the government.

It is to be developed at Hinkley Point in Somerset by the French company EDF and backed by Chinese investors.

But critics have attacked plans that will guarantee EDF almost double the current market rate for electricity, warning that households could end up paying over the odds.
