BAE Systems to cut jobs at its English and Scottish yards

BAE Systems is to cut 1,775 jobs at its yards in Scotland and England and end shipbuilding altogether at Portsmouth.

The firm said nearly 1,000 of the redundancies will be at the Portsmouth site, with the rest going in Glasgow, Rosyth and Filton, near Bristol.
