Shipyards should not be political football, says GMB

The defence firm BAE Systems is expected to cut 1,000 jobs at three of its shipyards - at Govan and Scotstoun in Glasgow, and at Portsmouth.

Harry Donaldson, the Scottish secretary of the GMB union, said any decision should be based on economics, and not made on political grounds.
