Preparing for the biggest day of Christmas shopping

Many supermarkets are expecting today to be the busiest day of the year as people do their last big food shop before Christmas.

BBC Breakfast's Stephanie McGovern went to Asda in Trafford Park, Manchester where chief executive Andy Clarke said, "The 23rd is always the big day and we plan for that - 30 trucks will arrive at this store today".

Meanwhile Markit economist Chris Williamson told her December was "a real mixed month" for the economy with a boom in retail but a reduction in factory output.
