Gatwick Airport boss apologises for Christmas chaos

Gatwick Airport chief executive Stewart Wingate has admitted his staff failed in its handling of the Christmas travel chaos there.

There were long delays and cancellations on Christmas Eve - and huge queues at check-in - when flooding caused a major power failure in the north terminal.

Mr Wingate appeared before the Transport Select Committee, along with representatives from the airline Easyjet, to explain what had gone wrong.

Richard Westcott watched the proceedings.
