Oxfam: 85 people 'own half of global wealth'

The 85 richest people own the equivalent wealth of half the world's population, according to Oxfam.

Research by the charity suggests that the imbalance is having a detrimental effect on the world, as individuals and companies hide trillions of dollars away in a web of tax havens.

The report, Working for the Few, has been published ahead of this week's World Economic Forum in Davos.

Max Lawson, Head of Policy for Oxfam, told BBC Radio 5 live's Shelagh Fogarty: "It's levels of inequality that are higher than we've ever seen before."
