Counterfeit goods: EU hears case on online purchases

People in Europe buying fake designer goods online could face having them seized and destroyed by customs, pending the outcome of a case being heard by the European Court of Justice.

EU trademark and copyright owners currently find it difficult to prevent counterfeit goods, available on foreign websites, being bought by consumers in Europe for personal use.

Intellectual property lawyer Jeremy Blum told BBC World how the case arose after a Danish man knowingly bought a fake Rolex watch from China.
