Facebook's $19bn WhatsApp deal 'unjustifiable'

Facebook has bought messaging app WhatsApp in a deal worth $19bn (£11.4bn) in cash and shares.

Technology journalist Larry Magid told BBC Radio 4's Today programme he could not understand how Facebook were able to "justify" the cost involved.

He added that WhatsApp believe the use of advertising is "insulting" to users, and questioned whether Facebook will look to change this mind-set.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 20 February.
