Analyst: Why Dixons has survived on the high street
The owner of Currys and PC World is hoping to make the most of an increasingly connected world by merging with mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse, in a deal worth £3.8bn.
The chief executive of Dixons Retail, Sebastian James, said with the increasing demand for household electrical products that can be connected to mobile technology the move was "logical", while Carphone Chief Executive Andrew Harrison described the merger as "ahead of the curve".
