Asia cracks down on illegal bets ahead of the World Cup
Police in China, Thailand and Singapore have begun to crack down on illegal football betting ahead of the World Cup.
The Doha-based International Centre for Sport Security estimates sports punters worldwide bet up to $680bn (£406bn) a year, over 80% of which is made through illegal channels.
Asia is estimated to account for more than half of these illegal bets.
