UK economy: GDP grew by 0.8% in second quarter of 2014

New figures show that the UK economy has grown by 0.8% in the second quarter of this year.

It is now 0.2% ahead of its previous peak which was reached in the first quarter of 2008.

Joe Grice, chief economist for the Office of National Statistics, said it was the sixth quarter of "fairly steady, convincing growth".
