Thames Estuary airport plan 'overambitious' - Sir Howard Davies

A plan for an island airport in the Thames Estuary - known as 'Boris Island' - has been rejected, the chairman of the Airports Commission has confirmed.

Sir Howard Davies said that cost, logistics and environmental issues made the plan unviable.

He also told BBC Breakfast that a European directive forbids building on land used by migrating birds if there is a viable alternative.
