Shanghai - Hong Kong share trading scheme launches

A landmark partnership between Shanghai and Hong Kong's stock markets has been launched.

The Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect allows foreign and Chinese retail investors to trade in Shanghai's market for the first time, via the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Meanwhile, investors on the mainland can deal in Hong Kong stocks through the Shanghai Exchange.

Some analysts believe the scheme could eventually lead to the creation of the world's third largest stock exchange. But will the link really help open up China's financial markets?

The BBC's Leisha Chi put that question to Credit Suisse's head of China research Vincent Chan.
