Fee-free bank accounts revealed by Treasury

A new fee-free template for basic UK bank accounts has been revealed by the Treasury after a deal with major banks.

The free accounts will be offered by high street banks by the end of next year.

They are aimed at people who have struggled to get a current account because of financial problems and will let them make payments and deposits, but will not allow overdrafts.
