Battle of the broadband: Virgin Media to invest £3bn

Virgin Media says it is making its high speed internet services available to an extra four million homes, at a cost of £3bn, and creating 6,000 jobs.

It is part of Virgin's battle with BT, Sky and TalkTalk for a slice of the huge market in providing pay TV, fixed-line telephones and broadband in a single package.
