George Osborne: Government 'on track' after £8.8bn surplus

The Chancellor, George Osborne, says the government is on track to meet its borrowing and deficit forecasts for the financial year.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the Treasury received £8.8bn more in tax receipts last month than it spent.
