RBS Chief: Bonuses are a 'highly emotional' issue

RBS chief executive Ross McEwan has confirmed that he will not be receiving a £1 million bonus this year.

But RBS will still pay out bonuses from a pool of £421m, which is some 21% smaller than in 2013 and Mr McEwan has defended the size of the bonus pool.

Speaking to the BBC's Kamal Ahmed, Mr McEwan explained the new direction for the bank amid a difficult atmosphere for banking generally.
