Housing crisis: Not enough homes and prices too high

Groups from the housing industry along with charities and planners are gathering in Westminster on Tuesday to demand an end to the shortage in new homes.

It is thought that 240,000 new homes are needed every year, but last year only 120,000 were built.

The shortage has in the past been described by the governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, as the "biggest risk" to the UK economy.

The National Housing Federation says that the problem has built up over decades, as successive governments have failed to build enough homes.

BBC Breakfast's Jayne McCubbin has been to meet some young people affected by the cost of housing.
