Test cost deters young lorry drivers

Road hauliers will ask for government support this week to help recruit and train lorry drivers because of a nationwide shortage.

Many drivers are reaching retirement age and are not being replaced in sufficient numbers.

The hauliers say prospective younger drivers are put off by the high cost of taking the HGV driving test.
