Sir Menzies Campbell: 'Lords should be mainly elected'

Forty-five new peers have been appointed to the House of Lords, including former MPs, special advisors and election strategists.

The delayed dissolution honours list contains 26 Conservative, 11 Liberal Democrat and eight Labour nominations, and brings the total size of the Upper House to 826.

The BBC's Gavin Esler asked one MP elevated to the House of Lords, Sir Menzies Campbell, whether the entire system needed reform.
