'Companies who flout cold call rules will be fined' - ICO
A green energy company has been fined a record £200,000 for breaking the rules on cold calling potential customers.
The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) found Glasgow-based Home Energy & Lifestyle Management Ltd made more than six million automated calls in two months.
The company blamed another firm it hired to make calls and said it was appealing against the ruling.
Simon Entwistle, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the ICO, told the Victoria Derbyshire programme said the size of the fine was justified.
