Drought saps South Africa's sugar cane crop

In the 150 years that reliable observations have been made, 2015 is on track to be the hottest year on record.

Partly put down to the El Nino effect - the above-average sea temperatures in parts of the Pacific - scientists say it is to blame for the drought that is gripping southern Africa.
