Gender pay gap: Why do mums increasingly earn less?

The hourly gender pay gap increasingly widens year by year, after women become mothers, says a report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

The Victoria Derbyshire programme heard a range of views on the subject: Nerissa Chesterfield from the Institute of Economic Affairs said the discrepancy was down to mothers reducing their hours; senior equality lawyer Stefan Cross explained how it was harder to bring a case; while Laura Hinton from accountancy firm PWC said there were too few women in top roles.
