Why are 80% of Ugandans snubbing local clothing brands?

On the streets of the Ugandan capital of Kampala, the sight of piles of second-hand clothes is not unusual. This cheap clothing, or mivumba, provides employment and business opportunities for thousands of Ugandans.

But 80% of the country's textiles are imported and it has become a controversial area of the economy. Some say it is stifling local production, while others say it underpins the livelihoods of thousands of traders.
