UK needs ‘golden relationship’ with China

The Treasury Minister Lord O’Neill has stressed the need for the UK to have a “golden relationship” with China in the wake of the negotiations about the Hinkley Point nuclear deal.

Lord O’Neill was reportedly unhappy when a review of the project was announced in the summer but said he was “very pleased” a deal had been reached.

The former Goldman Sachs economist said the search for trade deals post-Brexit should not distract the UK government from the importance of relations with countries like China which have growing domestic demand.
