Students clash with police during tuition fee protests
Thousands of students have been protesting in cities across the UK at government plans to raise tuition fees.
Some demonstrators clashed with police during marches in Central London. In Birmingham, students were confronted by police after storming the council building.
Marches have also occurred through the centres of Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, and Cambridge.
The protests come as the Business Secretary Vince Cable, the minister in charge of introducing the rise in university tuition fees, revealed that he might abstain in the vote on the policy.
